Industry to Pay for TWIC Cards

The NYSA-ILA Contract Board issued recommendations January 4th regarding the enrollment and payment for TWIC cards

"In order to minimize confusion about the payment of the TWIC enrollment fee, it is recommended that you advise your members to enroll only at the various mobile sites which were listed in the mailing previously sent to each member. Some of these sites are not yet established. When they are, it is recommended that each member enroll at the mobile site where the member is employed. No deep-sea member should pay the TWIC fee out of the member's own money. The industry will see to it that the fee is paid for each member."

Local 1588 Fishing Trip, August 21st

Come and join your fellow brothers and sisters set sail on an adventurous fishing trip for Blue fish.

Departing from: Brielle, NJ

Date: August 21st, 2010

Cost: $50 a person depending on how many people go. The more people that attend, the cover charge will be less. $25 deposit needed up front. If interested please call the union hall and give your name and contact info to Brenda. Someone will call to inform you when the deposit is needed, where the meeting place will be and to answer any other further questions you have or you can contact Johnnie “Black” Taylor @ 201-753-2168. St. Patrick's Day Parade 2010

More than forty Local 1588 members, families, and friends joined officers on a warm, sunny Sunday for the three mile parade up Broadway. It was Local 1588's third time marching in the annual parade. Afterwards, marchers returned to the union hall for corned beef, cabbage, and refreshments. 1588 was also joined by members of tug boat Local 333 of the ILA in Staten Island and lot's of members' kids.
